Caledonian Software Solutions is a software consultancy in Glasgow, incorporated in July 2026. It was founded by Mubashir Ali and is directed by Saleem Akhtar. We are new, and we are specific about what we are good at.
Our work centres on the structural layer of online retail: e-commerce platforms, product catalogue and fitment data, supplier feed integration, and data normalisation. Our current engagements are in e-commerce and catalogue data systems for the automotive parts sector.
We deliberately stay small. One senior person who understands the whole system, rather than a rotating team — that is the trade we offer, and for the kind of exact, data-heavy work we take on, we think it is the right one.
Mubashir Ali
Mubashir is a software engineer with more than five years of experience building production data pipelines and backend systems. Since 2024 he has worked as a Python engineer for a US automotive-parts e-commerce retailer — building exactly the systems this firm specialises in: infrastructure that synchronises and serves over ten million product images, automated Google Merchant Centre feed pipelines, scraping and data-ingestion platforms, and a customer-facing parts kit configurator delivered end-to-end as a solo developer.
Before that he led a team of five engineers at a London-based competitive-intelligence SaaS company, designing ETL pipelines and analytics dashboards on Django and PostgreSQL, and built document-automation and regulatory data platforms as a part-time backend engineer in the pharmaceutical sector.
He holds an MSc in Big Data Technology from Glasgow Caledonian University (2025) and a BSc in Computer Science. He works in Python, Django, PostgreSQL, Docker and nginx — the same stack this website runs on.
